I started in butchery at just 13 years old in my father’s shop in the UK, beginning as the “clean-up boy.” Dad was a traditional village butcher, and it’s where I learnt my trade — not just the skills, but the importance of hard work, customer service and the family recipes we still use today.
After completing my apprenticeship, I left the UK in 2007 to travel and gain experience. That journey eventually brought me to Australia, where I met my future wife in Brisbane. We settled here, married in 2009, and I continued working in a number of high-end, award-winning butcher shops across Brisbane, refining my craft.
After eight years, we made the move to the Sunshine Coast for a sea change, and in March 2017, Budd’s Butchers was born in Coolum Beach.
For me, butchery has always been more than just a trade or a business. It’s about being part of the community and providing people with quality they can trust. I’m committed to sourcing ethically farmed, high-welfare products and delivering the best possible meat to our customers — the kind I’m proud to put my name to.
Budd’s Butchers brings together the best of modern butchery with the tradition and service of a classic village butcher. Proudly multi award-winning — including Qld Regional Store of the Year and recognised as the Home of Australia’s Best Lamb Sausage — we’re known for quality, consistency and doing things properly.
Our sausages are made in-house using family recipes passed down through generations, while our value-added range is crafted daily with a focus on flavour, convenience and value. From fresh stir-fries and ready-to-cook meals to our much-loved pies and pastries, everything is made fresh and prepared to make life easier without compromising on quality.
We’re passionate about the provenance of the meat we sell. That means sourcing high-welfare, free-range products wherever possible, working with trusted suppliers and being transparent about where your food comes from. Our team are always happy to share details on the farms behind our products.
Where we can, we source locally first, with a strong focus on hormone-free and antibiotic-free meat. All of our meat is broken down in-house using traditional butchery techniques by our skilled team, ensuring complete control over quality from start to finish.
You’ll find us serving the local community from our Coolum storefront, as well as online with convenient Click & Collect and delivery across the Sunshine Coast.
